State Election is an Opportunity for the Building and Construction Industry
Today’s announcement that Tasmanians will be going to the polls on 15th March 2014 has been welcomed by Master Builders Tasmania, the peak employer body representing the building and construction industry.
Mr Kerschbaum, MBT’s Executive Director said, “Today’s announcement is welcomed by the building and construction sector which believes that an election has the potential to remove lingering doubt about Tasmania’s future and restore confidence back in the Tasmanian economy. A factor which is critical for a recovery in the building and construction sector which has been languishing for several years.”
Mr Kerschbaum continued, “Master Builders Tasmania would urge all Tasmanians to seriously consider who they vote for and the impact that their choice will have on the 15,000 Tasmanians who are directly employed in the building and construction sector as well as the other 15,000 Tasmanians who are indirectly employed by the industry. Investment is needed to keep Tasmania moving forward and a stable government will create the right environment for Tasmania to grow and thrive.”
Mr Kerschbaum concluded, “Whilst tourism and aspects of the agricultural sectors are doing well, it is the traditional sectors such as building and construction which still have the most ability to influence the direction of the state in the short–term. Master Builders Tasmania is calling on all political parties to present voters with the right policies to increase productivity, drive economic growth and create more jobs as their number one priority.”
