MBT congratulates Guy Barnett on his appointment as the new Building and Construction Minister
Mr Kerschbaum, MBT’s Executive Director said, “The elevation of Mr Barnett to Minister for Building and Construction is an excellent appointment. We look forward to working with him, especially during this critical period as the Government prepares to negotiate the passage of a number of building related Bills through Parliament. Unfortunately the Minister won’t have much time to get his feet under the table as the final tranche of these Bills still needs to be approved and then the legislation needs to be implemented by the end of the year.”
Mr Kerschbaum added, “It is especially pleasing to see the importance of the Building and Construction industry being recognised with the re-appointment of a Minister for the portfolio. This is something that MBT has advocated for over many years and one which the industry believes is critical to the efficient functioning of the economy.”
Mr Kerschbaum concluded, “MBT would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the excellent achievements of Minister Brooks during his tenure as Minister. The new Minister certainly has very large shoes to fill in the building and construction portfolio with Adam doing an exemplary job in listening to, and genuinely consulting with, industry. ”
