Builders Welcome Commitment to Reduce GST Red Tape For Small Business

Small businesses in the building and construction industry would benefit from a commitment by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to reduce their GST compliance burden.

Master Builders Australia (Master Builders) Chief Executive Officer Wilhelm Harnisch said, “The Prime Minister’s commitment if re-elected to reduce the number of Business Activity Statements (BAS) required by small businesses turning over less than $2 million per annum is certainly good news for small building firms.”

Red tape hits small business hard and diverts their resources away from productivity generating business activity.

“Today’s announcement by the government will help reduce the red tape and boost business confidence,” Mr Harnisch said.

“Reducing the GST compliance burden for small business will help the many small businesses in the building and construction industry and contribute to a stronger economy,” Wilhelm Harnisch said.
